This policy explains what Snout collects when you use the Snout plugin and command-line tool, and when you visit this website.
What we collect
The plugin and CLI. Nothing. Snout runs on your machine, records its decisions to a .snout/ folder in your project, and makes no network calls. We never see your code, your file names or your usage.
This website. The pages you visit, your browser and device type, and approximate location, through our site host’s analytics. No advertising trackers.
Team early access. If you ask to join, what you send us: your name, contact details and a little about your team.
Snout Team, once it launches. Only if your team turns it on: per-session counts, labels and token estimates. Never file contents or code.
Messages. What you send us through GitHub or by email.
How we use it
We use website analytics to learn which pages help people, and messages to answer them. Team data, once Team launches, is used only to show your team its own dashboard.
We don’t use any of it to train models.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Our site host processes website analytics for us. GitHub hosts our code and issues under its own privacy policy.
Your project data stays with you
Everything the plugin records stays in your project. Delete the .snout/ folder and it’s gone.
How long we keep it
We keep messages as long as we need them to answer you. Website analytics follow our host’s retention period.
Security
The plugin reads files only to classify them and never uploads them. If anything goes wrong, it lets the read go ahead rather than blocking your agent.
Cookies and Do Not Track
This website uses only the cookies our host needs to serve it. We don’t use advertising cookies.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at github.com/biffbuster/snout-context/issues. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
Children
Snout is a developer tool and isn’t directed to anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect.
