Terms of Service
Effective September 28, 2026
These terms apply when you use this website and Snout’s hosted features. The Snout plugin and command-line tool are open-source software under the MIT license, and that license governs the software itself.
The software
Snout’s code is licensed under MIT. You can use, copy and change it under that license, which comes with no warranty.
Your data
Your code and project data stay on your machine. Nothing in these terms gives us any right to them.
Classifications can be wrong
Snout decides which files to hold back using rules, and it can be wrong. It reads a file in full when it isn’t sure, and you can allow any file. Keep reviewing what your agent does, as you would without Snout.
Acceptable use
Don’t use this website or Snout’s hosted features to break the law, or to probe or breach their security.
Plans and billing
The plugin is free. Team is in early access; paid plans will be billed at the prices on our pricing page, and we’ll ask before charging anyone.
Our property
The Snout name and this website’s design belong to us. The code is yours to use under its MIT license. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
Availability
We work to keep this website and Snout’s hosted features available, but we can’t promise they’ll never be interrupted. The plugin runs on your machine and doesn’t depend on them.
Disclaimer
Except as stated in these terms, Snout is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, and except for fraud, willful misconduct, or your payment obligations, neither side is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, even if it was told they were possible. Each side’s total liability under these terms is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Snout at any time: uninstall the plugin and delete the .snout/ folder.
Severability
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Changes
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date above and tell you about significant changes before they take effect.
